Many impoverished children in rural Cambodia don’t have access to adequate funds to procure uniforms, shoes and their school supplies in order to attend primary school. The Ponheary Ly Foundation provides these “school bundles” to children who would otherwise not be going to school.

Once all the children from a village are present at their school and properly equipped, the PLF supports the school sufficiently to provide a quality of education that is equal to that which is accessible in the urban communities.

The Ponheary Ly Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the USA. Our goal is to locate and serve the many children in Cambodia who live in the poorest rural villages and do not have access to equitable educational opportunities.

The schools we support are already established government schools with Khmer teachers. We are not reinventing the wheel with our own schools, simply supporting the schools that already exist in their villages, and providing an opportunity for all children to attend.

In addition to eliminating the obstacle of equipping children, the Foundation also supplies a nutritious breakfast when necessary and pays monthly stipends to teachers who only earn $20-40 a month from the government, as well as assist them in their continued education. We supply bicycles to students who live long distances from the schools and medical help when required. Your donations also supply the teachers with the materials they need to properly teach and support special projects like gardens and clean drinking water.

Your donation dollars go directly into our programs for students and teachers. We enjoy very little overhead because of the kind assistance of volunteers both on the ground in Cambodia and from international visitors.

We hope you enjoy reading about the progress of these amazing children. Be sure to come back often and check the “What’s New?” page for reports on recent events, or sign up for our newsletter below!
