A new year has come, and with it comes exciting news. Join us in welcoming Christin to the team!

So begins the passing of the Operations Director torch! After three years working with PLF, Hannah is moving on to new opportunities. We are thrilled to announce that Christin has finally joined our team and is working with Hannah to take on the leadership of our programs in March!

Christin first came to Cambodia seven years ago as a Peace Corps volunteer, living and working in Svay Rieng province as an English Teacher volunteer at a public high school. Upon finishing her initial two-year service, she decided to extend her stay with Peace Corps in Phnom Penh, where she worked as a Volunteer Leader for another year. Then, in 2014, Christin moved to Siem Reap to begin her role as Deputy Country Director for Caring for Cambodia. As Deputy Director she spent more than four years working closely with public school teachers and administrators; leading initiatives on teacher training, staff development and management, and program evaluation. She now joins the PLF team with seven years of experience in Cambodia working in the development sector, a deep understanding of working across cultures, and strong experience in community-based sustainable development.

But don’t just take our word for why we’re excited to have Christin on the team, take it from her! Here’s what she is most looking forward to in the 13th year of PLF:

As I’ve collaborated with PLF on various projects over the past few years, my admiration has only continued to grow. Schools – and public schools in particular – really are the answer, and I’m thrilled to now be working on the PLF team! Every child deserves an education but this right is still being all too often denied. As I’m starting with PLF, our first wave of university scholarship students are graduating and I’m finding myself reflecting on how children will persevere against all odds to gain an education as long as someone has opened the door for them. I’m excited to be a part of keeping that door open for the next generation of PLF students.

Stay tuned for a final reflection from Hannah when the torch has officially been passed, and in the meantime check out the Our Team page to learn more about Christin and the rest of our team!
