Jo, a “middle-aged” lady from Melbourne, Australia, recently spent a month at Knar primary school running some fun, crafty activities which included weaving with raffia.  She also spent time up with our teachers checking how they were progressing with their newly acquired budgeting skills and played Chess with our thriving Chess Club leader, Mr Ka’On.

Joanne shares her thoughts on volunteering with PLF:

So many different stories, so many different experiences.

After a 2 week visit to Siem Reap in 2014 which included meeting Ponheary Ly, I just had to return.  This time staying at Seven Candles Guest House and volunteering with PLF which I can definitely say was a highlight in my life.

Not one negative moment – well maybe one, one of my craft projects didn’t work as well as I would have liked.  The children didn’t seem to mind but I did.20150817_105606

I could write a book on my time with PLF but the last couple of Volunteer posts on this website have said so much.  I won’t repeat what has been said except to say it’s all true.

I’m an older volunteer and just wish I had found this experience earlier in my life.

I can’t wait to return next August – only 46 weeks and I’m already counting down.  This time I am planning on volunteering for 8 weeks.

If you are thinking about volunteering don’t think twice, just do it.  You will love every moment.
